City views

Visiting Subiaco means wandering through its narrow medieval streets and discovering the unique views and images of a diverse city with an extraordinary past.

The old city centre is a maze of steep streets surrounding the Rocca dei Borgia. Visitors arriving in Subiaco are greeted by the Medieval Bridge of Saint Francis, built in 1358 across the Aniene River, and leading to the Convent of Saint Francis, dedicated to the Saint from Assisi. At the city entrance also stands the Triumphal Arch built by order of Pope Pius VI.

The old workshop area, dating back to the Middle Ages, is located on the left bank of the river and is the oldest part of the city.
